This post was originally written in honor of Megan Sheehy. Meg was a beautiful, vibrant young lady who inspired us all with her very valiant and very public battle with cancer. At fourteen, the cancer would claim her life, but the love she left behind washed over our close knit community in a ripple effect that would touch the very heart and soul of this small seaside town...It is a message of love, delivered by the power of her love, to all those who walked with her on her journey home. We are truly blessed.
It is ok to cry...that is how you feel your grief. You must experience it by allowing yourself to feel it....You must feel it to heal it.
Your feelings are the ripples in my ocean....Pouring your heart out feeds my ocean with LOVE...KNOW YOU WILL ALL RETURN TO MY OCEAN.
The intensity of your grief will pass, but it never fully goes away. We experience grief over and over in our lives because we are emotional beings...That is what makes us special.
Teach your children how to grieve...The sadness is confusing to them, especially when a child dies.
Cry with them...hold them...share your tears with them. Trying to stay strong to spare them your tears will only confuse them further.
The tears you cry are your LOVE...give of it freely as you go through your experience of life. It is the gift you give to the world...I LOVE YOU ALL.
This message was channeled by me on the evening before Meg passed away...I recorded the words of course, but they flowed with such ease that I feel this young lady guided my thoughts so that she could express her love and gratitude for all the love she had received from us...It was her final gift.
With the recent loss of my father, I have been thrust once again into this flood of emotion...I was blessed with the opportunity to comfort and care him in his last days...and in doing so, he comforted and cared for my broken heart...Being with the dying and facing our grief is one of the most powerful expressions of love for another...as well as ones 'self'....Godspeed dad...
